Every tire you drive on, every seal keeping water out of your home, every aircraft component built to survive extreme stress starts with materials someone had to test. Alpha Technologies builds the instruments and software behind those tests. For over 60 years, rubber and polymer manufacturers around the world have trusted our rheology testing to prove their materials perform. There is a lot riding on our testing. And there is a lot riding on the people who make it happen.
Our precision instruments move the world. We turn deep rheology science into insight customers act on immediately. This insight protects the quality, sustainability, and performance of materials used in vehicles and products worldwide.
We move technology forward. We innovate. All of our scientists and engineers have room to build on what came before, raise the bar today, and shape what rheology testing looks like next.
Rubber and polymer materials show up everywhere you look. Tires. Gaskets. Medical devices. Aerospace components. Seals inside your refrigerator and your car. When a manufacturer needs to prove a compound will hold up under heat, pressure, and time, they turn to Alpha instruments to measure it.
New ideas in rubber and polymer testing help our customers improve the value of their materials. The people behind those ideas work here.
“In some companies, you cannot talk with a director or manager. We are free to talk to anyone we want.”
Alpha Technologies began as a team of Monsanto scientists in 1964. They were tasked with solving one specific problem for the rubber industry: proving a material would perform the way it needed to. This effort led to two inventions still shaping the industry today: the Moving Die Rheometer and the Rubber Process Analyzer, the first instrument able to measure a compound before, during, and after cure in a single test.
Alpha became its own company in 1986. We moved our headquarters to Hudson, Ohio in 2017. Today, Alpha is part of the AMETEK family of companies. Over sixty years after we started, rheology testing is still our sole focus.

Alpha Technologies is trusted by more top-tier rubber and polymer manufacturers than any other brand. Our name is well known across the industry, and for good reason.
Our instruments and processes carry ISO 17025 and ISO 9001:2015 certification. In addition, we maintain a leadership role and active participation in the following standards committees setting the rules for rheology testing worldwide:
(formerly) American Society for Testing and Materials
International Organization for Standardization
National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories
China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment
Japanese Industrial Standard
Deutsches Institut für Normung
Our instruments can be found in over 70 countries across 7 continents. We operate in more than a dozen countries, with local support close to where our customers are located.
Great instruments come from great people. Alpha looks for scientists, engineers, technicians, and problem solvers who want to push the field forward. If you like the idea of building tools trusted around the world, working alongside people who respect your ideas, and seeing your impact reach real customers, we’d like to hear from you.
Alpha Technologies works with colleges and universities worldwide to bring state-of-the-art rheological testing into their labs. Together we train the next generation of polymer scientists and engineers. If you plan a career in polymer science, these schools belong on your short list.
