Premier MDR introduces new technology that delivers the highest consistency and long-term stability of any moving die rheometer: reliable, repeatable data, batch after batch.

Premier MDR gives QA/QC and production labs the cure data they need to keep compounds consistent and lines running.
Verify proper ingredient order and amounts to keep every production batch uniform.
The industry-standard cure meter, providing data you can trust for monitoring compound quality.
Analyze cure characteristics and reaction kinetics to fine-tune production parameters.
Detect issues early to reduce defects, improve quality and prevent costly delays.
The Oscillating Disc Rheometer (ODR) was once the only choice for cure testing, and it was limited to about one test. So the engineers and scientists at Alpha Technologies (then Monsanto Rubber Chemicals) changed the industry: they invented the Moving Die Rheometer, now the workhorse cure meter in rubber and polymer plants worldwide.
Premier MDR is built to withstand any continuous production environment. Many of our early MDRs are still on the job 20, 30, even 40 years later — one reason Alpha is trusted by more top-tier rubber and polymer manufacturers than any other brand.
Here’s what comes standard with Premier MDR that others leave out.
Stiffer seals with low friction prevent slippage and leakage, so there’s no loss of signal. They also last longer.
Bearings last longer without greasing, for lower overall maintenance costs.
Measure foam performance and see whether pressure changes during the test, so you can optimize formulations and reduce errors.
Workbench manages the instrument while Online Manager analyzes data. Custom electronics give true multitasking — no waiting for the test to finish.
Alpha is committed to traceable torque standards for accurate calibration. Cheaper standards carry an unacceptable margin of error and need fudge factors.
Options that expand what your Premier MDR can do, from faster method changes to walk-away automation.
Change oscillation angles (0.2°, 0.5°, 1° and 3°) quickly and without recalibrating — over an hour faster than the competition.
The 3-side open enclosure makes it easy to add automation for low- to high-volume production, with the industry’s most reliable compact, lightweight sample delivery system.
Every Premier MDR includes the engineering that makes the whole Premier line faster, more stable and easier to use.
Custom Electronics that are matched to the instrument. Better control. Better resolution. Other MDRs use off-the-shelf PLCs to save money, but can’t fine-tune their electronics to their instrument – often overshoot set points then spend valuable time stabilizing.
Efficient die cooling that gets your instrument ready for the next test. Why wait 20 minutes for dies to cool down when Premier instruments take about 6 minutes. (And our instruments are smart enough to know when the instrument reaches the right temperature. Others, not so much.)
Because they are designed specifically for Premier instruments, our heating control system ramps up heating cycles faster and maintains control for more accurate cure times and more efficient production.
More accurate measurements. No loss of signal thanks to Premier’s Smart Alignment and Dynamic Symmetry. On-target, parallel die closing, high stiffness and constant closing force.
Work smarter not harder with lighter, cast aluminum frames. Not only are Premier frames light, but incredibly stiff for less variability. What’s more, Premier instruments incorporate frame compliance into the calibration for better data.
Our incredibly intuitive user interface comes to you through a large, bright, touch screen panel that lets you navigate to the view you want or the information you need, fast and easy.
